Jorge Hernández es Profesor Titular de la Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez desde 2022 y se especializa en el área de modelado, simulación y optimización de procesos de toma de decisión en gestión de operaciones y cadenas de suministro. Obtuvo su Doctorado en Ingeniería Industrial en 2011 por la Universidad Politécnica de Valencia, con distinción máximum cum-laude y mención Europea. En 2014 recibió el premio a la mejor tesis doctoral por la Universidad Politécnica de Valencia.

Entre 2011 y 2021, el Prof. Hernández fue profesor asociado en la Universidad de Liverpool del Reino Unido, donde en 2016 recibió el premio al mejor investigador y desde 2019 a 2021 fue el Director del Programa de Master en Business Analytics and Big Data, participando en procesos de acreditación AACSB, EQUIS y AMBA. Entre 2016 y 2021, el Prof. Hernández fue Director e Investigador principal del proyecto Europeo H2020 RUC-APS, el cual es un proyecto €1.3M (CLP $ 1000 M aprox), donde lideró un equipo de más de 150 investigadores, distribuidos en 18 instituciones entre 8 países (UK, Francia, Italia, España, Polonia, China, Argentina y Chile), para mejorar los procesos de toma de decisión de cadenas de valor agroalimentarias que sufren incertidumbre y riesgos elevados.

Al mismo tiempo, el Prof. Hernández lideró varios proyectos UKRI para trabajar en soluciones de investigación aplicada a la cadena de valor agroalimentaria del Reino Unido. En total, el Prof. Hernández se ha involucrado en más de 20 proyectos de investigación internacional en los últimos 10 años. Con más de 60 publicaciones indexadas, entre revistas, libros y capítulos, considerando un índice h de 16, el Prof. Hernández centra su investigación en entender problemáticas empresariales del mundo real y proveer soluciones tangibles en base a investigación aplicada en el ámbito de la gestión de operaciones y cadenas de suministro.

Con más de 20 años de experiencia profesional en el desarrollo y aplicación de métodos de gestión operaciones en las industrias del sector fabricación, salud y agroalimentario, el Prof. Hernández es considerado a nivel internacional como un experto genuino en investigación aplicada de impacto en los procesos de toma de decisión en la empresa. Actualmente, el Prof. Jorge Hernández colabora con el Ministerio de Agricultura de Chile y además, desde 2022, el Prof. Hernández es Profesor Honorario por la Universidad de Liverpool en el Reino Unido con la finalidad de apoyar el desarrollo continuo de la investigación y educación a nivel internacional y de impacto.

Prof. Jorge Hernández is a Full time Professor (Profesor Titular) at Adolfo Ibáñez’s University. His main research areas are ​modelling, simulation and optimization of Enterprise decision-making processes in operations and supply chain management domains. Prof. Hernandez obtained his PhD in Industrial Engineering in 2011 from the Polytechnic University of Valencia. This PhD was evaluated considering a maximum cum-laude distinction as well as a European mention. In 2014 he received the award for the best doctoral thesis from the Polytechnic University of Valencia. From 2011 to 2021, Prof. Hernandez was Associate Professor at the University of Liverpool in the United Kingdom, where in 2016 he received the Best Researcher award. From 2019 to 2021 he was the Director of the Master’s Program in Business Analytics and Big Data, participating in AACSB, EQUIS and AMBA accreditation processes. Between 2016 and 2021. Prof. Hernandez was Director and Principal Investigator of the European project H2020 RUC-APS, which is a €1.3M project (CLP $1000 M approx.), where he led a team of more than 150 researchers, distributed in 18 institutions from 8 countries (UK, France, Italy, Spain, Poland, China, Argentina and Chile), to improve the decision-making processes of agri-food value chains that suffer from uncertainty and high risks. At the same time, Prof. Hernandez led several UKRI projects to work on applied research solutions to the UK agri-food value chain. In total, Prof. Hernandez has been involved in more than 20 international research projects in the last 10 years. With more than 60 indexed publications, including journals, books and chapters, considering an h-index of 16, Prof. Hernandez focuses his research on understanding business problems in the real world and providing tangible solutions based on applied research in the field of management. operations and supply chains. With more than 20 years of professional experience in the development and application of operations management methods in the manufacturing, health and agri-food industries, Prof. Hernandez is considered internationally as a genuine expert in developing applied impact and research to enhance decision-making performance in organisations. Currently, Prof. Jorge Hernández collaborates with the Ministry of Agriculture of Chile and is also Honorary Professor at the University of Liverpool in the United Kingdom.
