Cristóbal Corral es Doctor en Ciencias, Mención Física, de la Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María. En su tesis, trabajó en la interfaz entre gravitación y física de altas energías.

Realizó 3 postdoctorados: (i) en el Centro Científico Tecnológico de Valparaíso, (ii) en el Instituto de Ciencias Nucleares de la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, y (iii) en la Universidad de Santiago de Chile. Fue Profesor Asociado en la Universidad Arturo Prat, Iquique, entre 2020 y 2024, y actualmente se desempeña como docente e investigador en el Departamento de Ciencias de la Facultad de Artes Liberales.

Sus actuales intereses de investigación son los agujeros negros, instantones, solitones, merones y configuraciones con topología no-trivial en gravitación y teoría de campos. En particular, su investigación se centra en el estudio de sus propiedades termodinámicas, efectos no-perturbativos, y su contribución a la ruptura de simentrías clásicas a nivel cuántico.
