Estudió Bioquímica en la Universidad Austral de Chile. Posteriormente, realizó sus estudios de Doctorado en Ciencias Biológicas en la Universidad de Concepción. En el laboratorio del Dr. Francisco Nualart y la Dra. María de los Ángeles García estudió el mecanismo sensor de glucosa cerebral. Tiene un postdoctorado en el área de Reloj Biológico con el Dr. John Ewer en el Centro Interdisciplinario de Neurociencia (CINV) en Valparaíso.

Sus actuales líneas de investigación contemplan: Células madres mesenquimáticas (MSC) y biocerámicos en terapia regenerativa mediante estudios in vitro (colaboración con Dr. Juan Francisco Vivanco FIC) y educación STEM: nuevas aproximaciones al Pensamiento Científico para estudiantes.
